From 1890 to 1915 Namibia was a German colony.
In 1915 it was occupied by South African troops.
Only in 1990 the country became independent. Before the current President, Hifikepunje Pohamba, Sam Nujoma was the first President of Namibia.
His reign was characterized among others by "Positive Action", in which all state-owned companies and institutions top management positions were occupied by non-whites.
